10,000 Families (10KFS) is a study of family health in Minnesota. 10KFS invites families to participate over time with the purpose of understanding the influences of genetics, lifestyle, and environment on health and illness.
Rising Impact is a nationally recognized, Somali nonprofit organization tailored towards enriching the lives of Somali American youth by utilizing the positive elements of education, mentoring, employment, and the arts.
In 1776, the Somali people became the first African nation to formally recognize the independence of the United States of America, a move that was reciprocated in 1960 when the new nation of Somalia was born. Come join us in celebrating Somali Independence day and continue the strong ties between Americans, Somalis and the increasing number of people who call both countries home. There will be musical performances, food, games, and something for everyone to enjoy.
Poetry and song capture the collective memory of the Somali people. Through storytelling and spoken word, Somali poets keep alive the history of the Somali people. The short documentary Xassuso (Remember) 1960 explores how poets memorialize Somalia’s independence from colonial rule. Join us for the film, and a discussion with experts and activists about the many ways that Somalia’s art, culture, history and traditions continue to give life to the story of the Somali people.

The growth conference is a first of it’s kind minority conference built around Entrepreneurship, marketing, e-commerce & innovation.
